Pure Instinct pheromone oil comes in a “roll-on” perfume/cologne bottle, and is designed to be an attraction product for men and women.
This viral pheromone perfume recently did the rounds on Tik Tok (videos below), and has racked up an INSANE 30,000+ buyers on Amazon.
And as for the “viral” part…
Does that mean Pure Instinct pheromone oil actually works?!
Frankly, it was cheap enough to not really care, but also, fun to see if it would actually do something… not that I was expecting anything anyway.
So I got a bottle a few weeks back.
At worst, it would probably just get used as a cheap emergency product to keep in my car, as a very last resort…
But before any of that — testing the product, or trying to gather any result…
The first thing I wanted to do, was try and figure out what all this “viral” nonsense about Pure Instinct pheromone oil was about…
Because I don’t believe for a SINGLE SECOND this happened completely naturally…
Here’s why:
In case you don’t really know how social media works…
Companies will pay hefty fees to “influencers” (usually accounts with 1000’s to MILLIONS of followers) to mention a product/service, give it a shout out, or create short videos about them.
Tik Tok is one of the newer social media platforms out there, and is notorious for some of the dumbest, cringiest videos you’ll ever see.
But I digress…
In my search for the truth, I came across popular videos of people encouraging people to try or buy Pure Instinct.
Here are a few, but if you really wanted to watch more on this crap, then just search for it on Tik Tok.

The next one is not quite “Pure Instinct pheromone oil”, it’s another called “Heaux Cosmetics” (mentioned by the creator above).
I have also received some emails about it, and had never heard of it at the time.
But I don’t believe they had as much success as Pure Instinct advertising in this way.
… They’re all basically the same type of promo – short videos encouraging people to buy or probably saying things the company told them to say.

There are LOADS of videos all pretty similar to the ones above.
So don’t worry — you haven’t missed anything important.
Anyway, let’s get to the good stuff…
Does Pure Instinct pheromone work?
In short, it does, but very minimally — and I’ll explain my results in just a moment. There is a mild (and somewhat) offputting pheromone smell in the bottle, and the fragrance smells like cheap shampoo that’s been sitting in the warehouse for a few years. However, you can’t complain for a product that costs less than $20. The fragrance problem can be solved with a proper cover scent.
As for the results — well, they were so mild I might as well have just worn my trusty La Nuit De’l Homme by YSL…
… it gets way more compliments, and genuinely seems to actually hook women in quite strongly (not as much as pheromones, but pretty damn good for a normal cologne).
And because it’s unisex, it would be very minimal dose of pheromones too — especially considering it’s only got 2-3 at the most, and one of them is heavily geared for men (explained below).
Does Pure Instinct contain any pheromones?
Yes it does, and it does have a somewhat noticeable pheromone stench with an obvious cheap fragrance to cover it up. As far as I can tell from the sales page, it contains:
- Androstenone – mostly male pheromone which can signal high testosterone, health and vitality, sex appeal etc.
- Copulins – This is released by women in much higher concentration when they are in ovulation, and can trigger men’s testosterone spikes and attraction to the scent.
- Androstenol – (suspected). However there is no real way to tell unless you have a nose that can differentiate all the different smells.
I don’t have this skill, but some other people may be able to confirm.
The sales page has this description:
- More than 20 years ago, Pure Instinct changed the ways we feel about ourselves and reconnect with others. Again in 2021, Pure Instinct #pureinstinct took over TikTok as the most trusted and searched pheromone perfume and cologne as it was used and loved by hundreds of thousands of individuals looking to revive and reaffirm the lost connection as result of extended isolation. My Pure Instinct review and results:
I could tell this product was cheaply made, and the pheromones are not very concentrated at all.
Obviously, if it’s targeted towards BOTH men and women (unisex), they would have to ensure the androstenone level does not make it unappealing for women, and copulins content isn’t overwhelming for men.
I feel like they would have had more success with a “For Her” and “For Him” version, but no biggie.
If their goal was a simple and mildly entertaining product for the masses, they succeeded.
However in terms of experienced pheromone users, or a product that has hard hitting effects like we’re used to – obviously the bar is too high to reach for these pop up pheromone companies.
As for my personal results — very similar to Raw Chemistry pheromones. It has very minor effects, sometimes women will stand a little closer, move closer while you’re interacting, give you eye contact and more… however, there is no “blatant” hits like what you’d get from something like Alfa Maschio or Casanova for example.
My personal rating:
Pure Instinct was just a random pickup, and of course for a product that costs less than $20, you can't really expect women to be bending over backwards for you and breaking their necks to check you out. While it did have some minor effects (subtle, but you can tell women are curious about what the scent or the attraction to you is about), its nowhere near as blatant as other cheap, but proven products (such as those from the PheromoneXS product line). Here are some other critical Pure Instinct reviews on Amazon:
Is Pure Instinct pheromone perfume a scam?
No, it’s not a scam. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by their marketing not being TOO over the top (unlike vendors such as Pherazone). Of course, everyone claims they’re the best, so we can write those off immediately.
If I’m not mistaken, it was available at Love Scent a while ago, possibly a few years ago.
I have not been as harsh on it as products I would normally throw into the “scam” category, because they have not done anything wrong by paying people to promote the product in a “sleight of hand” type of way.
The creators of the videos make some money saying they “bought” the product, they get paid, then the company gets paid by making more sales…
And who knows, some people may in fact get the results they desire. Some may be disappointed, and be out a few dollars. I guess from a “fun” perspective, there’s no real big loss to anyone.
Do you recommend Pure Instinct pheromone cologne?
To be frank, no. If you are on a budget, I would strongly recommend just spending a little more and getting products that have been proven to work repeatedly.
And products that are designed by actual pheromone users themselves… experts from the likes of PheromoneXS, Pheromone Treasures, LAL/S1CK Jewelry etc.
However, if you are interested in purchasing this, atleast tip me and purchase here:
Pure Instinct review summary
I’m not sure what the deal is with these random pheromone products suddenly going viral on Tik Tok of all places, I guess I just don’t understand the new era. Regardless, the product was just “okay”, and if you wanted it for a laugh, then feel free to add it into your arsenal.
For me, this product is simply a gimmick and most likely a rebranded product that’s already available (like the “Heaux Cosmetics” product I mentioned earlier, and most likely Basic Instinct by Pure Romance).
Probably from China, and designed just as bad as those pheromone vending machines that came out a few years back in men’s restrooms (usually at bars or nightclubs — however, I have not seen these for quite some time now in Australia).
Anyway, during my travels I also found this video (it’s a little pointless, but if you were interested in figuring out more about how this type of stuff randomly starts going viral).
Final thoughts
I wasn’t really planning to make an article about this, because there are too many scam products out there. But the fact that people regularly email me about them, I figured I’d throw them up anyway just in case it helps someone save money, and get a product that’s actually worth those hard earned dollars.
From reading the Amazon reviews, it seems like some people are actually having what they perceive as “success” using the product… getting their partners act different, or getting a bit of extra attention from men. However, this is the result of some proven pheromones, which are practically in EVERY half way decent product.
Aside from those effects, it has no buffering properties, isn’t designed with “expert” pheromone users/veterans/testers in mind. It is likely just a gimmick to market this to the masses who have not been exposed to the type of results you can get from using pheromones…
Just imagine if they used a product that’s actually recommended!
Instead, Pure Instinct oil is just a simple, cheap product — and perhaps, if you’re a skeptic on a super small budget, it may pay to pick up a bottle and see if you can notice anything different at all.
Other than that, this one is going into the “meh” pile, as I’m sure many will in the future.
