Androtics Direct used to be one of the top pheromone companies in the world. They provided excellent products at great prices, and Pherotalk was actually a worthy discussion board…
… but over the last few years, their behavior and actions have repelled a lot of users away… ultimately leading to their own destruction.
What I mean is that Androtics Direct is nowhere near as competitive as they used to be.
Frankly, there are pheromone companies that have overtaken them by leaps and bounds – which we’ll discuss shortly.
So why did I have a change of heart about one of my previous favorite pheromone vendors?
Actually, there are several reasons:
- Lack of innovation (although they are supposedly a “research” company – just look through all the pherotalk threads)
- Too much “smoke and mirrors” (dishonesty)
- Severely overpriced products
- Changing formulas (specifically a314)
- Alternatives to Androtics Direct
But before I carry on, let me just state that this is not a review of their product line.
This is more of an in depth look at their business practices, and how I have felt personally about their dealings with myself and other pheromone users over the years.
My goal as a pheromone reviewer is to filter out great, good, and bad products so you don’t waste your time and money on stuff that doesn’t work. Androtics Direct actually does have products that work, but as you’ll find out shortly… you can get much better for less.
But let’s start with the “lack of innovation” issue.
Androtics Direct calls themselves a “research” company, that sells unnamed pheromone molecules in order to get reports about what they do.
To get a “researcher” status at Androtics Direct, you have to report on their pherotalk forum what the effects were, at what dosage, etc… this will eventually get you access to “limited edition” mixes which will supposedly be released in the future.
From all the time, money and effort that people have put in over the years to report on the molecules…
Not a SINGLE new pheromone product has come to market for the last 3-5 years.
They only thing they did try to improve was a314 which came in batches of new “revisions” – which got WORSE over time.
Unfortunately, they not only take the mixes off the market, they are never disclosed to the public either to recreate them. Which is extremely frustrating when you have a mix that works great, but can’t be sure if it will be there next time you order.
They also have not disclosed a single “blind” molecule to date, which was the whole purpose of them being a “research” company that advances pheromone technology.
Another major complaint: smoke and mirrors
While Androtics Direct claims to be a research company (which is far from the truth), they are also very dishonest in some ways about how they do business. This is unlike the Athena Institute where they do have “research” available, but it is often sketchy very difficult to verify.
One of the most irritating things about their approach to business is the “sacrificial lamb” angle that they take.
They claim that they lose money on certain molecules and mixes that they sell, in order to advance their research – even though they have not made any major strides over the last few years.
Another major issue I have with them is that there is likely a handful of sock puppets or shills on the pherotalk forum.
A “sock puppet” is a fake online identity, in order to frame Androtics Direct in a positive light.
Some of the things they do include:
- Dissuading people from trying other vendors
- ALWAYS available to answer basic pheromone questions from new people
- Promote the hell out of all Androtics Direct products
One very obvious poster goes by the username “mobocaster” on the pherotalk forums, who has racked up almost 10,000 posts at the time of writing.
It’s extremely obvious by the number of posts, and how he answers almost every topic posted on the forum… that he’s either a huge fanboy or the more likely explanation: a paid shill for Androtics Direct (or perhaps one of the owners trying to portray their products well, from the point of a crazed user).
One other thing about my first bulletpoint – they have also started censoring the name of other vendors in private messages by using ***** to block out the names.
This is one huge red flag in my books.
Some people don’t really care for a companies politics. If the products work, they buy them. if not, they move on.
However, they dissuade people from trying other vendors because of their OUTRAGEOUSLY high prices
Unfortunately, as much as they claim to be all about research, and taking losses for furthering pheromone knowledge… they also have a LOT of explaining to do.
Especially about why some very basic products – Instant Openness, Instant Honesty, and Instant Jerk – cost $120 for a 30ml bottle.
The last time I had ordered from Androtics Direct, the SAME products only cost $50 a bottle.
So what exactly justified such an extreme price hike?
When pressed for answers, they replied that they have some very scarce molecules which goes into the production of their products, which had their prices raised.
Unfortunately, this is a direct LIE.
Even if their cost prices were raised, it would not be enough to

justify more than DOUBLING the price.
Those products are mainly some very basic molecules, which include androstenone, alpha androstenol, and beta androstenol. You can even buy all 3 molecules and make up your own mixes by changing the ratios, which would be far cheaper than wasting $120 on the products.
In the past, Androtics Direct was very well known and maybe even considered a “monopoly” on the pheromone market.
However, the last few years have turned up some OUTSTANDING vendors which offer far better products, for a much better price.
Sure, the products work (and some of them well) – but they are obsolete in terms of what other vendors offer.
Not just in terms of better prices – but there are simply more complex formulas, that do a lot more than provide basic effects of the “Instant” line at Androtics (luckily I found Pherotruth to be a far better forum for information on new vendors at this point).
As if that wasn’t bad enough, they also screwed up their flagship product…
They changed the A314 formula and then lied about it (BS claims on the Pherotalk forums).
In 2010, I got my first taste of pheromones. It actually wasn’t anything serious, or even a hobby at the time… by some stroke of luck, I ended up on the Androtics Direct website.
I read about a fantastic product called A314, which was designed to elevate my status, get me respect and attraction, and make people think I walked off the cover of GQ magazine.
My first few tries, I didn’t really even notice the effects – until one day I walked into class and noticed everyone avoiding me. Now, this wasn’t a bad thing…
I was actually quite amazed that people who were so friendly before, seemed somewhat terrified of me now.
That’s when I realized they worked – I just had to adjust my dosage.
And from there on, it was absolute MAGIC.
I was stunned that a few drops of this oil could have such dramatic effects on people.
About 3 years later, I got through my bottles of A314, and it was time to restock.
At this point, I had tried a range of products from AD which included Turn Up The Heat, Ammo, Instant Shine, Instant Gentlemen, Instant Jerk, Instant Openness, and Instant Honesty. I also tried some of the putative single pheromones and enjoyed playing around with mixes at the time.
Nevertheless, I was pretty excited to get my hands on the magic a314 juice again.
Except when it got here, it didn’t work anywhere NEAR as well as I was used to.
The a314 magic was GONE.
Soon after, I started complaining on the pherotalk forums, telling them that there was something very wrong with the formula.
I started experiencing negative effects such as irritation, anger, and lack of patience in my personal life. There were no positive, confident self effects like I was used to.
Other people also started reporting that this batch was a dud, and that there was definitely something wrong with it.
John Sebastian, a “higher up” at Androtics Direct addressed the a314 issue months later (once complaints started piling up).
At first, he had tried to blame the bad batch on “special” oils that are used to create it – claiming they are volatile natural compounds and deteriorate easily. He also tried to blame it on seasonal patterns, and other natural causes for poor quality of the product.
Unfortunately, they weren’t good enough excuses.
There were batches of a314 people have been saving for years which still worked perfectly fine.
After a lot of anger from people about the blatant lies, he decided to change the story and blame it on the formulator. He claimed that the formulator had unfortunately misread a sign, and added extra oil to the formula…
He said the reason for this screw up was because of something called “NLP”, or neuro-linguistic programming. He claimed that when this happened, he read a “DO NOT ADD OIL” sign as “ADD OIL” and added it anyway.
As stupid as that sounds, that’s what he actually told us.
So what WAS the truth?
They never told us – but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that they wouldn’t change a winning formula if they didn’t absolutely have to. It WAS changed, because the original self effects, and outward effects were never restored to their old ways.
The most infuriating part is that it was not the first time it’s happened.
Years before I ordered my first a314 bottle, there were users complaining on the pherotalk private forum that the formula had been watered down too (although I never got a chance to test the very first originals that came out).
I would trust them MORE, if they simply said something like “look guys, we can’t make this molecule anymore for X reason, so we simply can’t offer it anymore. We had to change the formula”.
The worst part about it is that even though they knew something was wrong, they continued selling it.
At that point, many people had left Androtics Direct to find better pheromone companies who didn’t lie so blatantly to them.
Of course, if you search the forums there will be outstanding a314 reviews, which are most likely shill accounts too.
It was time to search for alternatives
After this drama went down, I had started looking to other companies to find great products. I ran into quite few junky ones, but found a handful of legitimate vendors who offered even better products, at MUCH better prices.
I’ve even compiled a list of the BEST pheromones for men I’ve picked up over the years, when in the past Androtics would have taken up atleast a few spots in first place.
Some of them include Liquid Alchemy Labs, PheromoneXS, Alpha Dream, Pheromone Treasures, and Hax Pheromones.
Also, for the more advanced pheromone users who are looking to change over from Androtics Direct, here is a guide to alternatives for their putative pheromones line.
I have reviewed a lot of products and always have stuff on the back burner… plus, you can always email me if you need a specific product for a situation you’re in.
There are much more honest and affordable alternatives to Androtics Direct.

While AD definitely had an excellent product line back in 2010-2011, they have simply fallen off the wagon and gained a terrible reputation among most pheromone enthusiasts. After the constant lying, "scarce molecules" (which was likely a tactic to sell products when they DID come back into stock), and taking mixes off the shelves with no explanation.... most users at the time had found alternative vendors which have now surpassed what was once a great product line. There are some interesting putatives available, but there are now EXACT alternatives available from PheromoneXS -- which won't disappear without reason, and are more affordable. P.S. If you decide to visit pherotalk, remember that even mentioning their questionable business practices will get you blocked. However, it will not be a typical message saying so. The forum will start to go extremely slow, and constantly give you an error stating that the “server is busy at the moment”. Very sneaky way to ban people without making it obvious. Myself and other posters noticed this recently. There isn’t much worth reading anyway – even if there was, it would be buried under thousands of other fake posts to try and make it look like an active community.
P.P.S. Currently, they are trying to sell “new” versions of a314, called “Royale”, and “Naturelle”. I’ve had several people email me complaining that both products do not work. One other thing — apparently, there was a batch of A314 which was supposed to be “subtle”, but people started complaining it did not work.
… They then released the other (presumably the “Royale” edition), shortly after with a different scent. It also doesn’t work, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they just added some fragrance and tried to sell off whatever A314 they already cooked up. Be VERY wary of people claiming that it works with made up a314 reviews, especially on their pherotalk forum – shills run amuck there, whereas many people have emailed me after dealing with them and finding my article.

Glad you decided to take some time out an do a little bit of research. Unfortunately, AD has been caught out red handed tinkering with their formulas. However, very few people will see that a314 has been altered quite significantly. Some people still say that some self effects remain, but I just haven’t seen them. Specifically, the last rev I heard was good was rev32. Then I heard about a “Royale” version and a “Naturelle” version which may as well have been water according to some users.
When you speak objectively on their forums there are always certain people ready to back them up, and ban people who stir the pot a little too hard.

I agree. I had several iterations of the product before it became a useless, expensive dud — hopefully one day someone will discover what really made the early versions so powerful.
They are saying that UltraFine is rev26 and that BlackTie is rev24. Is this true?
I dont know for sure, I have not bothered with AD products for quite a while now. There are much better pheromones out there!
Interesting views on this company, however I always see people on some pheromone forums suggesting their “putatives” such as P74, P75, P83, P96, etc. Do you think those are still reliable and worth purchasing or not worth it based on Androtics’ bad reputation?

Most of those molecules have some pretty close substitutes (if not, they are the same) – just check out the single molecules in the human pheromones list. I personally wouldn’t use them again because any molecule could disappear/change at any time and we would be left in the dark about what exactly happened. As I said, there would be far more respect if they were simply more honest but they just refuse to do that.

Thanks Oliver, a few days ago I received a notice that I was put on their “do not ship” list… LOL — like I care. There are much better products out there that cost a lot less, and a far more advanced in terms of how complex they are. I really don’t care for their smoke and mirrors, hype, and plain old lies… it’s one of the most childish things I’ve seen a business do.

Please Joe advice on products, preferably in Europe that are as good or better than:
Ammunition – attraction that is fun and flirtatious. Can be worn around work, not aggressive.
Instant Jerk – scent that makes you smell like you’ve just had a lot of sex, which make you very sexually attractive to women. (My favorite one!)
a314 – get more respect and recognition at work.

I have tested most of the popular, working pheromone vendors (notably, Alpha Dream’s product line after getting fed up with AD) – as well as a bunch of crap products that don’t really do anything. Yes, I pay for all my products although if someone buys through my website I make a small commission (which just helps keep the site running and of course helps pay for more products). Unfortunately not enough to be a full time gig lol, however it is only just myself writing the reviews at the moment 🙂 Thanks mate!
Hey Anonymous, thanks for your questions. I don’t think there are any exact “direct” alternatives to all those products, however, I feel that I can recommend some products that would probably exceed them in the quality/effects department.
If you’re looking for a fun, light, and flirty product that can be used around work, I would probably go with TabooXS from PheromoneXS (mini review on the page). It’s light enough to wear at work while keeping the attraction properties reasonably visible. It doesn’t seem to hit guys other than them being a little more social due to its social properties.
Instant Jerk – I think either SOBXS would be a good alternative (again from PXS), or maybe even Bad Wolf/Alfa Maschio. Those are both attractive, and have some “fear” elements in them (although not too overbearing if you can steer products well enough).
As for a314, you can try APi which is similar, however you might find that it’s still a bit more “friendly” than what you are looking for. I would personally recommend going for either Wolf or Corpo for a professional environment.
Also, here is a list of their “putative” pheromone alternatives (for when they go “out of stock” due to mysterious reasons).

Sad to say, I was also “removed” from the Pherotalk forums when I decided to speak out against the high prices. I also didn’t like the fact that I got a “warning” after mentioning another product in one of my posts, and snapped back at them for trying to treat me (a paying customer mind you) like some sort of child.
I get that they are trying to minimize their competition, but instead of trying to shut people up about their poor pricing and “smoke and mirrors” as you say, why can’t they clean their act up and simply get competitive? I have never seen a business operate the way they do, hope they have burning Pherotalk and Androtics Direct down to the ground.

the closest alternative to Ammunition/Ammo IMO is TabooXS by PheromoneXS. It’s a light attraction blend that’s suitable for every day wear. As far as I know, it’s exactly the same ratios of pheromones with a touch of androstadienone to make it a bit better.

Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything that works exactly as the old A314 did, it may have been a complete fluke, their “super secret” scientists may have run off with the formula, or any other number of excuses. However, I would definitely recommend looking into products like Corpo, Bad Wolf, or even Alpha Treasures if you are looking for quality Alpha formulas. They are different, but still very powerful for creating the type of effects you want.

What is your opinion of Love Potion Magical Perfumerie pheromones, if any? I’ve tried a couple and had some mixed results, although the ones I’ve tried have been scented and not just the straight pheromones. Just curious if they do what they advertise as far as pheromones. I like the scents, so will probably continue to buy them anyway. Thanks

Love Potion Magical Perfumerie is actually a very good company, they have some wonderful scents. Yes they do provide pheromone products that work, I believe they get their formulations from Alpha Dream if I’m not mistaken. You may have a bit more hit and miss with their products due to the way the products are built, with artisan scents in mind, but the products are solid with or without pheromones IMO 🙂

Hey there. So I just came across this and I’m kind of Suprised but not. Now. I’m like rethinking ordering from them which I was about to do this week. And this got me kind of flustered because. I have a few products from them. Alpha. Which. Might be an older batch batch but it def works and t. But I’m thinking maybe i should try a different companies products and see if there’s any difference. Any good recommendations on a product or 2 to get to either have that sexual vibe that attract younger women in there 20s or so. Im in my 30s so I want to get women to be magnetized by my presence that they just want to come over or if im talking to them. Give me some ideas. I’m not a beginner at using Pheremones either. You can usually know if your A314 is any good or not because basically anything after rev29 seems to be complete rubbish. I know some people were having results with rev32, but it lacked that special “charisma” that the earlier versions had… it was simply alpha, but it wasn’t very attractive because it made people feel intimidated rather than in “awe” of the wearer.
Anyway, since you’re in your 30’s and want to attract younger women, these are a few suggestions:

Hey man thanks for the reply. Yeah. It could be that the version I have is good. I’m not sure which rev it is. But I’ll see if I can find out. Seems to work though. Or could be other products i wore with it. Who knows. But wouldn’t mind trying out some different companies stuff and see what’s up. Truth is that it’s hard for me to really know or trust any pheromones products out there until I either see results, because there’s so many bullshit products and companies out there that sell snake oil in a bottle basically (claiming It’s got pheromones.

Prices are always pretty high up there. Then again. It’s like when buying designer cologne. You could spend roughly 40-$80 on a bottle. So maybe it’s not that much more expensive. Now out of all the products you mentioned there all pretty much the ones I looked at and was intrigued to give one or 2 a shot. If you were to buy get 1 must have product that you can’t live without or gotten the most response hits off of. Which one would it be. Cause I’m on a budget. And can afford 1 maybe 2. I see what you mean, there are a lot of products to choose from but if I just had to pick 1-2 products, I would probably go for something like Alfa Maschio and Nude Alpha GEL. Those 2 are very well rounded products and cover 2 of the main bases we use pheromones for… sexual, as well as romantic type of attraction. It just depends on what you are trying to do with pheromones in the first place, there are different categories and different types of products for different people… some may work better than others, so it takes a bit of experimentation 🙂

Some of the products from AD do work, but they are inferior to a lot of other good products on the marketplace. They simply overprice everything and have shills hyping up everything on the forum to make them seem like they’re better than they actually are. However, you inexperience with pheromones could be a factor. I get much better results from products from companies like Liquid Alchemy Labs, Alpha Dream, Pheromone Treasures etc.
I’m totally new to pheromones ( haven’t even tried them yet, just doing massive research) and I was looking to buy the A314 to create a fallout mix (along with A1 and NPA), but I’m not so sure now after reading your blog. It sounds like A314 use to be a fantastic product, but with the $110 price tag, I don’t want to buy snake oil. I’m a skeptical person as it is, but figure it’s worth a shot. Is there something you’d recommend to replace the A314 in my mix, or is the A314 still a good product to use. Is A314 (or equivalent) + A1 + NPA a good fallout mix? I’m in my mid 30’s and so is she, and I’m kind of a “nice guy” so I’m not too concerned with ODing a none.

Hi B-man, that would have been a good combo, 5 years ago when A314 was a very good product. Unfortunately, the new versions after rev 29 (which was still just average compared to earlier versions), are pretty much useless for most attraction products. A314 used to have a lot of charisma, and really give off the vibe that you were very high status, charismatic, alpha, a leader etc… now it is just a status elevator without the “wow factor”. I wouldn’t recommend it, but if you feel like trying it give it a shot. In its place, I would definitely recommend Bad Wolf + XiSt as an alternative combo – Grail of Affection is also a great product, but I haven’t tested too many combos with it yet.

Androtics Direct are having a lot of problems right now. People (including myself) have placed orders over a month ago that still aren’t being fulfilled. Unfortunately AD was the first place I found pheromones for sale so I got excited and placed a big order. Six weeks later, the order page still says “processing”. There is a thread on their forum where people are complaining, they haven’t deleted it (yet)!
I don’t know if they’re giving up and still accepting orders as a last-minute cash-grab before shutting down. Thanks to finding your website I am able to make smarter purchasing decisions.
However, as a late 40s guy I’m not interested in attracting girls 18-25, which is where your reviews skew, I’m much more interested in the 35-50 bracket. Any product advice there?

Sorry about the late reply. Yes, Androtics has been on the rocks for a while now, and as far as I know they haven’t improved a single thing since the last time I ordered from them (years ago).
Since you are looking for women in their 30’s to 50’s, you can definitely go a bit higher on the “aggressive” scale of sexual attraction products. I would definitely start by looking at The Hookup by Pheromone Treasures, New Pheromone Additive, and SOB by PheromoneXS.

Hi PheroJoe, I’m new to pheromones, i bought ammo and instant shine from AD 5/6 years ago just to test what was all the fuss about pheromones and see if it was real. Can’t say a lot about ammo ( because of personal problems haven used it as I should but did see some reactions when using it) but instant shine was amazing, it worked perfectly, it truly made me “shine” when I used it and made me really happy just by smell it( even in dark moment of my life). So after that little bit of story I got to questions for u. First, do you have any substitute for IS that work the same or better? since AD is down and apparently rebuild their service. And Second whats your opinion on the attempt of AD to rebuild their site. Do you think is a shallow move to gain trust back or are they really trying to adapt to the business?

I replied to your other comment with an alternative you can try – it is the core ingredient that was used in the Instant Shine product. I personally have not used Androtics products for over 5 years, and they started going downhill a long time ago. I have avoided them, and it would take a lot more than their usual smoke and mirrors/empty promises to get me back on their train. I wouldn’t trust them at all, anything they do now just looks like a last ditch money grab before they disappear.

Instant Shine was a very basic product, and was comprised mostly of “Molecule A” by Androtics Direct. However, over a lot of testing time myself, as well as the community discovered that it is most likely Androsterone Sulfate. You can buy it here.
You may also want to read the human pheromone effects summary page, there is a rundown on most of the molecules that are used in formulas today.
I have placed an order with them on November 2017 (around $320).. until today i am still waiting..
When i sent emails asking about what was happening, million and one excuses were given! I shared my questions around their business practise on the forum, and guess what, it was deleted..
I see Pheromonetalk and Androtics as a scam! maybe it worked many ears ago.. but 2017 onwards… forget about it!

Sorry about the late reply. It seems that Androtics Direct has gone under and completely disappeared with a lot of peoples money. It’s a shame, but unfortunately the writing was on the wall a long time ago. If you paid with a credit card or PayPal, you should file a dispute. They should be able to recover your money.
I have a bottle of the original a314 I couldnt wear it cause it caused me to become angry. I was def alpha male with it. I had t use shine and openness to overcome the anger. I wonder if someone could use it to recreate it. I also miss that turn up the heat that worked like a charm.

I would recommend checking out APi by PheromoneXS, that is a great alternative – although it is slightly more tempered than the (working versions) of A314 I remember.

Hi Jesse, I would definitely take a look at ConnectionsXS as an alternative. Instant Honesty was a good working product, however, the prices at Androtics Direct are outrageous (not to mention, non existent customer service and not even delivering ordered products — as you can see by the complaints here).
I ordered about $150 worth of product in February of 2018 only to find out later in March that their online ordering system was up and running but they were closed down for a new website and a new building, staff, etc. I’ve made repeated requests to have my credit card refunded or send me the cologne I ordered and they promised me multiple times they would fulfill my order in the order it was received. It’s now December 2018 and I still have no cologne, and they never refunded my credit card. BAD NEWS is that they closed their old websites and opened up a new website, but Im not included as their “standard member” because I only placed one order from them. I’m about ready to file a class action lawsuit. Anyone who has been burned by this company, please reach out to me as I am 100% positive they’ve ripped off hundreds or thousands of customers in 2018 by leaving their ordering system up and never intending on fulfilling orders.
I used Androtics Direct a lot when I was experimenting with pheromones about 10+ years ago.
They had a great range on offer, the prices were reasonable and delivery to the UK was fast and trackable.
IMO, their best product was Instant Female Magic. One of the best pheromone products I’ve used.
Unfortunately, they cut that product pretty quickly after my first purchase.
I visited their website recently and the prices have shot up drastically… definitely a disappointment and not the appealing company I remember.
Yes, I see they are still trying to flog off the same old crap products. After all their made up BS about putative testing, you’d think they would have come up with SOMETHING by now :/ absolute scammers.

I placed an order in December of 2020. After reading negative experience reviews in multiple places, I contacted them within two days to cancel my order. I sent MULTIPLE communications (via email and their website) to no avail. These communications and requests were ignored and NEVER responded to. To this day the vendor has not emailed or called me back in regards to my cancellation request.
When it did arrive there was no information regarding how to return the product. This entire situation is horrendous and as a consumer I feel very much raped. To have a product forced upon you after making attempts to communicate to the vendor to proceed no further was an absolute nightmare!
I also got the original formula A314 over 10 years ago and still had some on occasion with Turn up the Heat. Both produced notable responses. I could see significant reactions from my GF (now my wife) as well as in business meetings when I was wearing it.
It is sad (and inexplicable really unless their supply chain broke) that they changed such a wining formula.
Looking around now that my carefully horded stash finally ran out, it is hard to know who to trust as to what actually works any more. The SEO astroturfing from all companies litters the interwebs.
Yes, it was a sad realization for all the original fans that got the original A314 products. Unfortunate but life must go on. I see that they’re still trying to ride on their old successful products and creating new useless variants of the originals that don’t work anywhere near as what other great pheromone products are able to do now.
This Stuff works like gangbusters and I want them Back cause I am out!!!! I am in sales and simply put people open up and talk with communication when spraying up for work
